The privilege of a lifetime is to
become who you really are.
– Carl Jung
The older I get the more I realize my life has not been about learning or evolving, but about unlearning. Despite what many claim, we’re not entirely a blank slate when we’re born. We are given over to countless instinctual motivations which are later punctuated by enculturation. We are given the biases and prejudices of those around us. If we are lucky, we get a lifetime (or more) to begin deprogramming ourselves so we can see the world as it really is — a beautiful creation of our own making.
